Long Lasting Treatment Dermal Fillers By Jessica J. Krant, MD

Unlike the neuromodulators Botox® and Dysport®, dermal fillers do not affect the activity of nerves or muscles under the skin and work simply by taking up space. Injectable dermal fillers are a temporary but long lasting treatment to enhance a youthful appearance and replace lost volume. Many dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the skin surrounding collagen bundles. The most common are discussed below.

This special formula hyaluronic acid replaces volume and elasticity in skin that has undergone sun exposure or the aging process. Dr. Krant will administer Restylane® using an ultra-fine needle to minimize discomfort and bruising. Through proper application there will be little to no down time. Results can last up to six to eighteen months, depending on several factors. Additionally, Dr. Krant uses a formulation known as Restylane®-L, which contains local anesthetic to further enhance the comfort of the treatment.

This special formula hyaluronic acid is long-lasting and adds lift and volume to deeper folds on the face or flattened cheeks. Perlane® is administered with an ultra-fine needle to achieve the desired appearance. The gel particles of Perlane® are larger than other dermal fillers, to target deeper folds. Typical results can last six to eighteen months. Like Restylane®-L, Dr. Krant uses Perlane®-L, which contains local anesthetic to keep the treatment as comfortable as possible.

Psoriasis is a complex autoimmune condition in which the skin’s immune system attacks your own best dermatologist new york city skin and sometimes your joints, and can cause unsightly red, flaky rashes and arthritis. It can last months to years and then suddenly resolve on its own, but we don’t really have any medication to “cure” it. Depending on the severity of the areas on your torso, a prescription cream may be enough to manage the areas, or you may need other more involved treatments such as phototherapy or immunotherapy.
